Manuka honey pulled from shelves of Queen’s grocer in UK

The official grocer of the Queen, Fortnum & Mason, has pulled manuka honey from shelves after concerns over its authenticity.

The upmarket department store pulled the New Zealand-made product after testing showed it had lower than expected levels of a key ingredient.

It comes as the government here works to implement a testing regime following ongoing concerns about the quality of manuka honey sold overseas.

John Rawcliffe, the spokesperson for the Unique Manuka Factor Honey Association, says the Manuka Honey industry has taken a hit to its reputation with some sellers not taking due care, resulting in the product being pulled from the shelves of Fortnum & Mason – the official grocer of the Queen.
