Deep trouble for dolphins
Last week, a dead dolphin was found washed up on a beach near Raglan. It was a female, and thought to be a Māui dolphin, which makes the death potentially significant for the population—only 11 breeding-age Māui females were found in a 2015 study, and there are thought to be about 60 adults left.
