Seal
Follow an orphaned seal as he recovers from the trauma of losing his mother, to his eventual release into the wild.
Every year hundreds of Alaska’s wild seal pups are left abandoned or orphaned. It is up to the team at the Alaska Sealife Centre in Seward to take these vulnerable little creatures through the first critical stages of life.
The ultimate goal of the centre’s staff is to release their seal cub charges back into the wild, but first they have to be taught a few basics of life. The staff try and teach them the necessities of survival, but it is imperative that the human caregivers don’t bond with the pups–these little seals must learn to survive on their own.
Raising Baby Seal is a touching, funny and at times sad look at the lives of four seal pups, from the trauma of their early abandonment to their eventual release into the wild.
