MASTERCLASS

At 1.00pm to 4.30pm on the same day, photographers are invited to a special masterclass with Matt going through some techniques for photojournalism, field lighting and working with subjects. This is not for newbies but rather for photographers already very familiar with their gear and either working professionally or wanting to work professionally—we won't be discussing shutter speed. Matthew Abbott is an Australian storyteller and photojournalist. His images have become internationally iconic for sensitively depicting major issues of our time. Abbott is reporting from the front lines of the climate crisis and uses his critical eye to document social issues in a way that humanises and broadens our understanding of stories that matter. Exhibition still open!

From nearly 8000 entries, judges have assembled a gallery of 68 images that tell the story of a year like no other in Aotearoa—each a new expression of the environment and society in which we live.

All are exhibited in Britomart, Auckland where you can check out all the finalists, select five of your favourites and click vote to have your say.

Voting and exhibition remain open until the close of the awards night on October 27.
