What happens to our e-waste?

It’s estimated every New Zealander creates an average of 19 kilograms of electronic waste a year. The Ministry for the Environment expects this to rise to nearly 27 kilograms per person by 2030. So what happens to our phones, laptops and heaters once they’re broken or unwanted? Charlie Dreaver visited Second Treasure, next to Wellington’s Southern Landfill, to find out.
