Waiheke aims for predator-free 2050

Auckland’s Waiheke Island is being used to test out how New Zealand can achieve its goal of being predator free by 2050. The government wants the country rid of all stoats, rats and possums by then – but until now has only focussed on sparsely populated islands. Already possum free, the goal is to have rats and stoats off Waiheke 25 years early, by 2025. Zac Fleming was at Waiheke for the launch with Environment Minister Eugene Sage.
