The fragile and beautiful world of seaweed

Professor Wendy Nelson is New Zealand’s pre-eminent seaweed expert. In 2016 she became only the second woman ever to have won the Royal Society’s Hutton Medal. She worked under the legendary Nancy Adams at New Zealand’s National Museum. As NIWA’s programme leader for marine biological resources, Wendy is an expert on seaweed from the Kermadecs to the Subantarctics.
