How an urban forest could reduce flooding in Christchurch

The Christchurch City Council is planning to purchase some disused fields at Linwood High School to create an urban forest designed to reduce the flood risk in the area.

The fields would be turned into a forested wetland reserve – with native trees and plants to attract native birds.

Councillor Yani Johanson explains what could be in store.
