Fishing cameras show increase in reporting of seabird captures

A camera trial in the Hauraki Gulf on inshore fishing boats has shown a big increase in reporting of seabird captures.

A group of bottom-longline fishers voluntarily carried cameras on their boats to test how fishing affects the black petrel.

Forest and Bird says when cameras were on board, twice as many captures were reported.

Spokeperson Geoff Keey speaks to Corin Dann.
