James Cook University in Cairns has launched a new search for the thylacine, a carnivorous marsupial, after receiving several possible sightings in northern Queensland.

Researcher Sandra Abell told Morning Report people have reported seeing a furry, striped animal the size of a German Shepherd, but she is still waiting for evidence.
